VKS Officer Suspended for Alleged Wrong Doings.
SMNN - Philipsburg: --- A female officer of the Voluntary Korps of St. Maarten has been suspended from active duty confirmed Prosecutor Rienk Mud. Mud said his office was not involved in the case and that the police department has since issued disciplinary measures against the officer. The prosecutor said he do not even know what the officer did and why she has been suspended.

Duncan: No more military training in Curaçao for St. Maarten youth
SXM Island Times - PHILIPSBURG - With the dismantling of the Netherlands Antilles looming next year, St. Maarten will not send any more youngsters for military training in Curaçao.
Home and Constitutional Affairs Minister Roland Duncan said yesterday that once the Netherlands Antilles no longer exists, and unless legislation is written into law, there will be no legal basis to send youth from Country St. Maarten to undergo military training in Country Curaçao.
VKS celebrate 12th anniversary
PHILIPSBURG - On Sunday June 28th 2009 the Voluntary Corps of Sint Maarten (VKS) celebrated its 12th anniversary. Members of the VKS, invited guests and a delegation from the Royal Anguilla Police Force first attended mass in the Roman Catholic St. Martin of Tours Church in Frontstreet, Philipsburg. [More....]
