Mr. Friendly's grand arrival, a smiling fact
SXM Island Times - PHILIPSBURG - The St. Maarten born brown pelican made his first appearance during the Port De Plasaince annual ChildFest last Sunday, leaving children with a lasting impression and a focus of being friendly to their family, friends and everyone they meet.
Mr. Friendly's promise to bringing back the friendly island proved itself undeniably as thousands of kids lined up to play Mr. Friendly games, including the Mr. Friendly Water Balloon Catch and the MR. Friendly Feeder, where after they publicly announced and signed their Child Certificate Pledges vowing to be friendly.
Love us or leave us
The Daily Herald - Dear Editor,
Please allow me to tackle the issue of immigration.
Now that Justice Minister Magali Jacoba is cleaning up the Netherlands Antilles, most of the business people here on St. Maarten are murmuring. I have heard that some of them have said illegal people have kept the country afloat economically. In my line of work I have realised that, too. However, I have never subscribed to the theory that hiring illegal people is better than hiring Antilleans. As brother Christopher would say, "that cannot fly with me."
I have no qualms about hiring non-nationals, but they should be documented. And we have a right to reject any other nationals who did not meet the Brooks Tower Accord (BTA) requirement.

Norman C Wathey Speaks Out—Green is Greed.
SMNN -
I grew up very close to my uncle, the late Dr. Claude Wathey and his children, I campaigned for the Democratic Party more than anyone else through the Roots Foundation, and I got enemies because of the Democratic Party when his own children didn’t want anything to do with “The Old Man”, Claude, having anything to do with politics. “The Old Man” and Al always accepted me as being part of the family, as well my father, the late Norman Chester Wathey. I know Theo from the day he was born, so that makes me the 1st offspring to have anything to do with the Democratic Party of St. Maarten, all others are “Johnny’s come lately”.[More....]
Hallelujah or Puck
Hallelujah or Puck.
Last week Patricia Varlac wrote an article, which was interesting, highly spiritual and humoristic. I love spiritual women; they give me the feeling that their boobs are filled with beautiful ideas. . She rightly observed the deterioration of language, used by St. Maarten youngsters and their parents. She advised her students not to use the obscene F- word, but the H-word: Not :“Get the F.. out of here”, but: “Get the Hallelujah out of here”. I think this is a f.., sorry, a Hallelujah-ing good idea! But I am very afraid it will not work. From an obscene word to a religious word is probably a too big step for youngsters. For adults it might work. My unpaid advice to William Marlin: next time when DP-members harass you, just say: “Please shut the Hallelujah up and go the Hallelujah home!”
Why Twittering Remains a Pathetic Occupation
Twitter is everywhere. It’s a site that allows you to post incremental bloggings, one sentence at a time. The idea was to post what you're doing all day, so that friends, family, or anyone who wanders across your page can get an idea of your daily schedule, your inner thoughts, and other things that no one really cares about.

Taking a Break!

Yeah, we dolphins do love our fish! It's how they get us to do tricks at Dolphinariums don't you know, using hunger and food as motivation. I'm so glad we don't have one here.
But it's true, Flipper is now officially Off Island, Gone Fishing and banned from writing unless I really really need to. SXM PE is now 4 years old, it's rebuilt and it is now open to the people and community of SXM to make of it what they will, I have repeatedly begged people I think have writing talents and knowledge and information to share to write, I get promises but never actual blogs. Maybe I was wrong and expected too much? I need to take a break.....
