The Daily Herald - ~ Theo says infrastructure spending a joke ~
PHILIPSBURG--Negotiations between the Island Government and owners of Port de Plaisance have been ongoing in an effort to realize a causeway that will stretch from the area of the airport through Simpson Bay Lagoon and connect to property government hopes to acquire at Port de Plaisance.

Commissioner of Public Works Theo Heyliger stresses, however, that nothing has been finalized and such a project is so grand in scale, several steps have to be taken, studies commissioned and benchmarks met before any real progress could be reported. Moreover, what government spends on infrastructure improvements is a joke and the new financial rules on government are obstacles to development, he says.
