GREAT BAY (GIS)—Investing time, energy and resources to achieve the stabilization of the employment market, improve job training and career development opportunities, decreasing the number of unemployed persons and improving communication between the business sector and government are only a few of the objectives of Mr. Hyacinth Richardson as Commissioner of Labour Affairs. To continue to realize the aforementioned objectives, Commissioner H. Richardson along with his staff members and local persons seeking employment were apart of a group treated to a tour of the Blue Mall located in Cupecoy on the Friday 24 July 2009. The orientation tour proposed by the office of Commissioner Richardson was meant to present the building to the commissioner and present the future labour situation, whereby it is projected that the mall could hire approximately 500 persons.[More....]
Top personnel of ROB questioned, D.L. to be questioned again on Saturday

Delano Richardson does not get back VROM job
PHILIPSBURG - The Civil Servants' Court rejected the appeal of former head of the Department of Spatial Planning and Management VROM Delano Richardson against his dismissal by the Island Government. Judge J. de Haan stated Friday that the Island Government had been within its rights when it fired the former VROM head after it became clear that Richardson had asked a developer for a bribe in exchange for a building permit.[More....]
DELANO RICHARDSON HELD AND RELEASED --ROB HEADS ALSO QUESTIONED.
SMNN - Philipsburg: --- Former VROM Head Delano Richardson was held by the federal detectives on Wednesday afternoon after he was asked to visit the offices of the detectives who are now on island. Richardson was held until late Thursday afternoon then he was released. Prosecutor Rienk Mud confirmed that Richardson was held for questioning and was subsequently released.
SMN News also understands that the interrogation of Richardson is continuing. It is understood that Richardson will be questioned again on Saturday at the Prosecutors Office.
Judge will now decide on Delano Richardson case
PHILIPSBURG - A judge will decide on a settlement between the Island Government and former head of the Department of Spatial Planning and Management VROM Delano Richardson. Parties had until Tuesday, June 16, to reach an amicable solution to their ongoing dispute concerning the former VROM head's functioning, but failed to do so.[More....]
Blue Mall set to generate 500 jobs
SXM Island Times - PHILIPSBURG - Blue Mall and Residences will bring more than just high end brands and luxury living to St. Maarten. The still-under-construction property will generate some 500 operations and service industry jobs when the commercial side of the business gets into full swing in June 2010.
Filling as many of these jobs locally as possible is a goal set by Blue Mall developers Cupecoy Development N.V. and Venezuela-based Fondo Valores. Already the search has begun for possible employees, although most are not needed until next year.
