Willy Haize - Red Flag - Imperialism, White Flag - Gay Reform - 17th April 2007

Democracy on St. Maarten--- Willy Haize
--Red Flag—Imperialism, White Flag ---Gay Reform---

Philipsburg: - President of the United Front Willy Haize in press release is calling on all workers on St. Maarten to make a concise decision on who they will vote for this Friday April 20th. Haize said that voting for the Red Flag would bring along Imparlism and communism which is what this party will be imposing on the people when they signed the November 2nd agreement in The Hague with Caretaker Minister Atzo Nicolai. He said that the time has come for his members and the people of St. Maarten to know the truth as he promised them he would make known the facts after April 15th. The unionist further explained that the White flag with its colorful logo is the sanctioning of gay marriages as this party has the colors of the Coalition Reform of the United States (gay rights flag)

He said that imperialism and communism is a complete destruction for the island people and the politicians on the Red party will not be working in the best interest for the island work force. As for the white flag party he said that if the Island is not granted an automous status the politicians would not be able to ask Parliament to amend the laws of the Netherlands on registration and performing of gay marriages. Haize further implied that the white flag is sanctioning same sex marriages and the only color exempted is black which represents HIV/AIDS.
He said that the politicians on these two major parties is not about the people since they all refused to take to the floor of the island council his request for the increase in minimum wage and an increase in the pension fund. He said his letter was sent to every island council member and not one of them had the guts to take it the floor, and the reason for this is because they are not about the people’s business. “These people will be earning some 8000 guilders a month when they are elected as ministers”. He said.
While these very people who are expecting you to put them in office are not interested in giving the older folks 1500 guilders, something he said did not have to come out of government coffers because he suggested to them how they can accumulate this extra money.” Willy Haize in a letter to members of the Island Council suggested that government take $1 from the head tax from all passengers leaving the A.C Watcheye Cruise and Cargo Facility and the Princess Juliana International Airport. The unionist said that with simple calculation government could have had over 3 million dollars from this idea which could have been used to grant pensioners a full comprehensive package on Health and death Insurance as well as increasing the pension. Government he said would still be in possession of excess funds which could have been used to enhance youth affairs and education.
Willy Haize who is representing workers under the United Federation Union and the United Front said that he owes his members full explanation as to where the island is heading as cost of living is skyrocketing and government he said for far too long has been neglecting its people.
