Philipsburg: - An autopsy has been conducted on the body of the garbage collector who was killed a week ago in Cole Bay, the autopsy was done on Thursday said Chief Prosecutor Taco Stein.

Stein said that he is now awaiting the pathologist reports from Curacao to see what the caused the death of the accident victim. Stein said that he is also waiting on a report from the St. Maarten Medical Center to see exactly what time the medical institution received the patient and what exactly was done and the time treatment was given to assist the dying man.

Prosecutor Stein said the man’s body is also available for release and as soon as he receive a request from members of the family or the company for the release of the body he said will be released.

SMN News have also uncovered that the man does not have any relatives living on St. Maarten, as he was living alone in Cay Hill, while the responsibility for burial would remain with the garbage truck company. However, management of Bunchie’s garage has refused to comment on the accident and what took place at the hospital on the morning of the accident.

SMN News has also confirmed that the ambulance department went to Oyster Pond where they were called for assistance to transport a sick person to the medical institution and that they arrived on the scene of the accident about 35 minutes after the first call was placed.

The garbage collector was hit about 4 am last Saturday morning while picking up garbage in Cole-Bay when he was pinned to the back of the garbage truck when a private car hit him from behind. Stein in earlier reports said that the death of the man was suspicious since the man had suffered two broken legs and a gaping wound. The driver of the car he said could not be tested to verify if there was alcohol in his blood.
