Mullet Bay Coalition Petition

Back in November last year I received an email with an image of Mullet Bay, apparently a plan that was being proposed and which showed much of the pond being filled. Since then we have discovered that this drawing is from a proposal made many years ago, it is still unknown what plans Mr Ansary has for redeveloping the property. One report mentions a mega yacht marina.

What is clear is that we cannot rely on Roy Marlin or Govt to make sure such filling ideas are discarded, his latest statements on the issue, in response to an enviro coalition being formed to protect the pond is to say that no draft zoning plan is needed or planned. In other words the govt will make no conditions nor even state that the pond can't be filled, it will just wait for the plans to be submitted and decide then. This is Mr Ansary, there are not many people who would deny him what he wants.

This report mentions that a website somewhere describes that one of those things he wants is a Mega Yacht marina. This would require a huge amount of dredging as the pond is not deep, this material would have to go somewhere. If anyone knows the website the article is refering to, please post it below.

What is wrong with these people on this island? If we keep filling and building, we can't call tis rock an island anymore...we might as well call it "SXM:The littlest big concrete jungle".

Conceptual MB plan

This is an architect's website. All I know is that they have a pic of the plans. Who knows what is really going on?

Note: It has been mentioned many times that these plans are very old, are conceptual and perhaps have absolutely no relevance to the planning that is being done now. The issue here, with this blog post and the petition is that the govt is making NO conditions on those plans in regards to the pond. By not making any conditions they are telling the developer to bring what they want to the table and then they will discuss it. The protection of the pond should be a condition to any development plans.
