Koolaid sales up, new shipments arriving soon.

It has come to my attention that some of the readers out there might not fully understand my reference to Koolaid in my previous blog post here, fortunately Roy has given me an opening to explain.

In the cynical world of blogging, the term 'drinking the koolaid' refers to those who lap up what is provided to them without question. For example, Frankie has been lapping up the Whitehouse Koolaid about Iran, in his speech to announce leaving politics he stated that calamity may come to the World and our tourism economy if the US were attacked by Iraq or Iran. At a time when St. Maarten is going to be broadening it's international presence, it's a good job he's leaving. Most people see the calamity coming Frankie, but it's not Iran that's going to be doing the attacking, at least not at first. As for Iraq......I need say nothing.

There are some that think the GW Video produced by SXM PE played a small part in bringing Roy and Theo to make their first public mentions of global warming, I think it's quite likely that they are two of the 6300+ who have seen it so far. I also hear that a few reporters have actually been asking the commissioners questions and these two articles are the results. Neither are convincing.

Theo's article about planting trees is an echo from the UN, it did not come from him. Roy's article today is the same thing, spurred by the report released last Friday and posted here by Caribdude. This report states quite clearly that the debate about GW is over, there is no argument about what we are doing to our planet.

The argument now is what can we do and how fast can we do it. Sadly, the way legistlation and policy moves on this island, we can expect something in about 2015.

Roy has no vision and most certainly has no real comprehension of what exactly Global Warming is and what it's effects will be. Neither does, Vance James, perhaps someone should send them the link to the SXM PE Global Warming Thread so they can study up.

Someone once told me this about leaders.

There are leaders who hang around in the crowd figuring out which direction it is leaning and then runs to the front and say's follow me. Then there are leaders who do have a vision to share that is inspiring and is worth following. I think you can guess which one I think Roy is.

His record on the environment is all around us.

Watch out for that Koolaid!

That GW green Koolaid is spiked!
Anonymous (not verified) | Wed, 2007-02-07 09:12

Well Fuzzbuzz, how about that Koolaid this past week?
Theo and Roy had theirs spiked with the mean stuff, that they have no clue what is really Global Warming and how they are directly contributing to Global Warming.
Doesn't Theo own a gas station? Does he own a shipping company? Does he sell fuel to the cruise ships? Most likely is this selling is occuring without proper control inspections?
Does Roy own a gas station now? Will he be owning one in the near future?
So exactly how are they personally going to help combat GW?
Did Roy andf Laveist try to put a halt on the amount of cars on the island?
Did they try to make sure that all large trucks be inspected? Many of them are driving with thick black smoke emissions polluting our air.
Did Roy as chairman of the GEBE board ever discuss how GEBE should start to consider looking into alternative energy? Maybe even consider W2E? Maybe using composting to fuel the generators? How about legislation to require all homes that will be built to have cisterns, this was something from back in the day, but since we most likely will be suffering from water production shortage at no fault of ENERSERVE I may add, all the fault of Roy and his over zealous buddies to over develop our island.
It would be smart to start requiring homes to add cisterns to their houses.
Many developers who are only concerned about selling what they build, eglected to do this in the late 80 and 90's, now is the time to restart otherwise Roy will be trying to push all kind of water plants as excuses. We will later find out that he has some sort of interest with water plants as he does with car crushing, cement plants, gas stations, real estate, garbage and everything that his hands touches.
This past week has seen a sharp increase in spiked green Koolaid and I only wonder if they are trying to please us here on PE?
As for Vance, god knows what those articles he writes are all about, I don't get any wiser and I guess neither does he.

Roy - No policies planned, SXM's GW responsibility is miniscule.
Local Hero | Wed, 2007-02-07 19:26

I'm very tempted to start a new blog post with this audio clip, but the site is starting to look like a GW devoted site so I hold back. Besides, it is directly related to Fuzz Buzz's post.

Roy stated today at the press briefing that SXM's contribution to the GW effects are miniscule and so there are no plans to put into place any policies to reduce it. No suprise there.

Roy then gave his 'educated' opinion that only about 10-15 percent of energy used here could be provided by wind or alternative clean energy, showing again that he really is clueless. With solar programs, wind and policies to reduce energy waste the island could become almost self sufficient. It only requires politicians with vision and understanding, something Roy isn't.

He then goes on to talk about trading Carbon credits, outlining a program which allows companies to invest to help small islands like St Maarten reduce emissions and get credits. So, from Roy's point of view, keeping our emissions high will make them more valuable later. He mentions 'Long Term' planning, does he realise the time for action has run out already?

Time has run out for you Roy, we still have no comprehensive water and sewerage system, we still have no legistlation to protect the environment, you have started no program with GEBE to research alternate energy, there are no policies to reduce energy waste. The dump is full and you exclude and deride the people within the community who want to help find the best solutions. Listen below.

Bah... what an ass he is.

Roy could learn a great deal by looking at Bonaire and Anguilla.

Thank you PJD2 for permission.
