A little birdie told me this is the same old excuse Caribserve continue to use as to why Isle de Sol and Port de Paissance Wifi hotspot does not work or barely allow connections, and captains and staff of these megayachts have to take their laptops down the road to connect to the very same Caribserve wifi connection. What a joke we are to these hitech mariners spending megadollars on SXM and cannot even give them INternet from their vessel. Let alone the fact that Caribserve advertises a hotspot in the latest SYCE 2006 official guide. And you want to know the problem? the cusotmers equipment is not good enough, or they are using equipment not supported. What a joke!!

It is high time government authorities started investigating the practices and empty promises of these Internet Service Providers, who continue to make their charges even when they are down. No wonder Frankie wants the Communications portfolio in SXM under his control---money!! plus he has a communications company in the wings with one of the Watheys and would like nothing more to sell the unused licence to Digicel. But that is going too far.

To Caribserve's credit, in my opinion they are the best or the worst. Here's my list:

1. CARIBSERVE.NET (best of the worst)
2. UTS (expensive)
3. NETWORK IDL (behind the times)
4. TELNET (a sick joke)

All the ISPs are all bad and SXM deserves better, and needs some rigid enforcement of these jokers. But of course they all know this about themselves and the competition. But no one is prepared to change becaseu they see no need to.

I think Kenneth Gijsbertha in Curacao needs to get out the big whip and start imposing minimum performance clauses with serious penalties for breach. Plus Internet is just too expensive. We are paying way too much for Internet but caribserve keep their price high, but claiming to only barely cover the cost of their radios, but imagine $70 x 4000 users = $280,00 month = $3.4 million a year, plus the larger business clients. For all this money we should be getting something much better and MUCH MUCH cheaper.
