I can't imagine why

I can't imagine why the Island Vision Foundation would ask Roy to deliver a speech for the environmental awards, unless they have the same vision...Such is life or How the cookie crumbles (same thing).

I see Roy is trying to justify his actions, with this speech instead of giving honor to the award winners. If it weren't for these concerned citizens trying to protect every hilltop, every pond, and every green area, there would surely be none left. People like Roy will rape the island in the name of progress. They will line their pockets and when they are finished, they will leave the island to spend it. Lets see if Roy leaves the island after elections next year?

I know Roy seems quit proud to have OK'd permits to allow the filling in of the so called pond, which was a marsh to begin with, and the beach where turtles would nest. I must say I'd rather look at 300 units of concrete instead of 300 baby turtles.

One last thing I'd like to ask Roy, knowing that you have created so many jobs with the resort at Dawn Beach. Which of those lovely jobs would you want for your children and their next of kin...grounds keeper, maid, or cook/waitress?

On a final note about the 68 people who didn't stop in or stand up to say thanks...why should they, again your speech never once thanked a single person for a job well done, so here's to you Roy...Oh well!

I'd rather see the turtles

Gracie, I prefer the 300 baby turtles any day over more concrete on this island.
I am fed up with the seemingly more and more hotels, condos, time share, high rises.
We need more parks, more green spaces, more trees, while Theo has planted lovely trees, I prefer him plant more than have so called important foreign investors come in to develop more for themselves.
I think our politicans have to study Cuba's history and find out what went wrong, why did Cuba have a revolution and threw the Americans out and why Castro came to power and restored the island back to the Cuban people.
While his long years in power has had it's controversies, there was a reason the people backed him in the beginning.

Holy Moly is that the Mary's Fancy Gut?

the picture you have pasted here with Commissioner Roy's picture, is that the Mary's Fancy Gut in the background? wow! and is he not ashamed?
Does anyone know if he really was standing there, or did ENVIRO news pull a fast one on him by pasting the background? Is someone going to ask the person who makes the enviro news if it was deliberate sarcasm or did the Commsissh really pose for the picture.

I find this guy should step down as commissioner of Environment, because he don't know what the word Environment means! When he mentioned in his speech that it makes absolutely no sense to protect every hilltop, every pond and every green area. And then saying that we have too protect the environment for our young people. He was contradicting himself!
My advice too Roy is to is to go back to the schoolbench and gather some knowledge about environmental aspects on this level. Because he is embarrassing the people of sxm when he make such statements without knowing WHAT Environment REALY MEANS.

Bless

What an asshole, the guy wants thanks for denying permits to a project that he was instimental in putting together and supporting? It was an insult to those who respect and care for the environment to have this man present awards. Enviro News is nothing but an empty shell, it has it's place and shows it well. Is it a Foundation? Is De Robert on the board and does he get a salary too from the magazine and radio show? Who else is on the boards of Green Vouce and Island Vision Foundations? Many questions to be asked here.

I feel very sad and lonely when I hear these things. People from all sorts of walks continue to manipulate this society for their own agenda and many of us fall into their traps. How is it possible that one invites a commissioner to be the person to give out the awards. The best person to do so must be also the recipients of the highest award. The simple reason is that this particular has done a lot for the environment and should be the person to high light the ceremony. As a matter of fact no government agencies should have been invited because the main cause of all the confusion and destruction is because they failed to do their jobs. That is all I want to share with you all now. Have a good day

Dje Robert

And remember. He is a fake too. He said years ago in an interview in the herald that he had high enviro degrees from British universities. I remember reading somewhere that the schools he said he attended were contacted. One responded they never had a student by the name of Dje Robert and never organized the courses he said he graduated in. The other school simply didn't exist. So who and what is he really? Who will ask him? Cause I don't understand that people actually bow to this guy and praise him for giving out environmental awards until he shows us that he actually knows what he is talking about and that he contributes. Up to now it is a lot of talking (freaky accent he has too) but no action. And his magazine? It is just a way to make a living.
