From May 27 Daily Herald:
http://www.thedailyherald.com/news/daily/k009/price009.html

Although thier "insider"-expert didn't see price for large luxury real estate fall, the paper's own stats show that 2Br units are down $20k from 2006 to 2007, and 3Br and larger units are down between 25 and 97 THOUSAND DOLLARS. and i'm sure it's only the beginning. Miami and South Florida real estate plateaued almost 3 years ago - in august 2005. April 08 prices are down 25% y/y, and most supply of condos has not yet come on the market. It's going to get a lot worse before any kind of stabilization. Real Estate bubble has burst, and with general period of wealth destruction (like in the 1970s, as opposed to the period of wealth creation in the 1980s and 1990s) real estate prices have no hope of fast rebound. remember, most of the boom in luxury vacation/retirement/2nd home real estate was due to real estate speculators and wall streeters (also speculators, but primarily in stuff other than real estate.) neither group is doing particularly well. can local population afford $400k units?

Amarjit can be proud of what he has done for Sint Maarten. Just look at the Dawn Beach / Coral Beach area's these days, the view will take your breath away. Amarjit generations to come will thank you for your contributions to our environment . Our great leaders Sarah and Roy appreciate your contributions too.

So now Duck takes EXCO to court?
barcann | Sun, 2007-07-01 08:43

I just read this on smn news. Somehow I missed this in the papers I guess.

Duck takes Exco to court.

The article says that Peyton Cromwell and his associates
"Want Judge to Force Government to Demolish Verwoord and Henson Tents"
So here we go again or better yet, here we keep on going.
When will this stop?
People have rallied before to support Joan..Is it time for a noisy rally again?
Joan has become the symbol for the little guy trying to fight the big guy.
What do you think? Will the judge this time support the little guy?
And how does Peyton Cromwell get away with all this?
Isn't it time someone investigates this man?

you did not miss it, it was not in the papers
Anonymous (not verified) | Sun, 2007-07-01 12:37

Barbara, you did not miss it in any local newspapers. The newspapers did not cover this story. Reason enough to add smn-news.com to your daily readings.
I check both dailies every day along with SXM PE and smn-news.com. Those people that keep saying that they only read the Herald are missing out big time on up to date news.

so nobody covered this?
barcann | Sun, 2007-07-01 15:05

so the only people who covered this is smn-news?
not even Today?
it's amazing how much is NOT in the papers, isn't it?

know this
Anonymous (not verified) | Sun, 2007-07-01 17:27

The newspapers do not cover everything and things that might interfere with the political ties of these newspapers will never be published.
You are one the critics of SMN News, but this goes to show you what is important is the news.

Know what?
O Psilos | Sun, 2007-07-01 20:01

I wrote extensively about Joan's situation, to a point that Peyton Cromwell doesnt want to talk to me anymore. Not bothered by ties to anyone.

Old news
O Psilos | Sun, 2007-07-01 16:13

Today reported about Duck taking Joan to court mid april.

O Psilos

What is old?
Anonymous (not verified) | Sun, 2007-07-01 18:23

This hearing was Friday the 29th of June. The april report was about another hearing.

u right
O Psilos | Sun, 2007-07-01 19:54

I know. Mistake.

O Psilos

This case is about Duck taking EXCO to court, new case
Anonymous (not verified) | Sun, 2007-07-01 16:25

Opsilos, this case is a new one. This is now Duck taking EXCO to court to force Joan Verwoord off the beach.
Seems that Duck is humiliated that Joans contract was renuwed during election time, so now they blame the EXCO.
Peyton Cromwell feels he has enough monies to make everything his, and his lawyer Erik de Vries is just as lame. As Joan so rightfully told the judge, how can he defend his clients with the fancy stories when Erik himself has been enjoying Joans beach chairs, tents and food in the past?

Get real
Anonymous (not verified) | Sun, 2007-07-01 16:18

This is not about taking Joan to Court she has been for the longest while in Court this is EXCO

Losers are winners and...
mongoose | Sun, 2007-07-15 10:24

Lets see Ms. B loses but wins. Duck wins but loses and the Island Govt loses it's argument but wins because they used the back door.
I love it that Duck is sunk and Joan has finally won what she deserved.
In the end this whole battle would never have taken place if Gov't had not tried to screw the people of SXM in the beginning.
This case should be a rallying point for the people to use to fix all the wrongs that are taking place. With determination and unity we can do it.
To Joan - I salute your determination and fortitude. Congratulations!!!!
