Today Poetry - Shadow People - By Geno Lawrenzi - 29th July 2006

I have just read this poem and I'm thinking this man has eaten one too many green bologna and peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches.

I think Geno would like to scare people away from using the internet. He makes it sound like anyone who access the net for news, pleasure, or simple communication with friends and family, are evil and hide in the shadows.

I log on everyday and I don't consider myself to be evil. I find the internet to be full of useful information, such as, worldly news (my local newspaper does not carry much of this info) plus I like to get different views. I can communitcate with people worldwide and meet new friends. It also gives me the option to research different products before I purchase locally or even purchase online.

No one should ever be afraid to use the internet or voice their opinion. Just like I have an opinion about this poem and I'm not afraid to voice it. It is your right!

I guess I must ask why Geno would write such a poem? After some thought I decided, he must have some secret he is afraid of. Something he doesn't want the people of St. Maarten to know about. Not that anyone really cared until he brought it to their attention.

So Geno why did you go to St. Maarten and not return to the US to live? Or is that a secret?

They come from all directions
These anonymous people with no history
Who find our precious Island and kill
Its beauty and wound the natives
Who are far better than they be.
You never know who they really are
But they creep into our society
And soon claim it is their home
Imposing their culture upon us
As if ours is no good.
But we can not run and hide
And enter their country
To claim it’s ours
That is against their pride.
So why would we still allow them to rise
From their netherworld into our paradise
These modern day pirates.
