Remember the old Safe Haven? Flipper | Wed, 2006-07-26 22:03
The one that used to speak up everytime there was a case of domestic violence?
The one that used to set up workshops and events to bring attention to their organization and their reason for existance?
Lorraine was an excellent director who personnally put a huge amount of effort and time, took great pains, risks and threats to help many victimized women gain the courage to confront and change their situations.
Remember the Safe Haven that put the Domestic Violence issue infront of the whole community again and again, persisting with the message that it is just not acceptable?
Remember the Safe Haven that had a good honest reputation, unbiased and true to it's purpose?
Do you miss it? I do.
The last we heard from Safe Haven was that it was setting up some program for kids about drugs. Since then, there is a slim chance we missed something, we have not heard a peep. Not to mention the program is not really true to the prime purpose of the foundation, to provide a Safe Haven. According to well sourced rumors, the home is not doing so great. Oldine must be too busy with the schools and Angelique too busy with Miss Universe.
Shame on them.
Meanwhile, domestic violence seems, at least to me, to be becoming more acceptable within the community. Or is it just that we can't hear anyone speaking up loud denouncing and condemning it.
The silence is deafening.
