Coming out in the wash

It's long been suspected that Gibson and others affiliated, ie the DP, had backed Merx's return to SXM in order to line him up for the job of Attorney General in the new Status government, these suspicions were confirmed this week. Also coming out in the wash is the story that Merx failed or was reluctant to pursue an investigation into construction fraud involving some of those same politicians and affiliates of Gibson.
Hopefully more will come out, and Merx hints as much. “We have not put all our cards on the table yet,” said Merx.

Let's hope so, because there is so much more to this case than jealousy.

Merx criminal case

More to come?

Merx is making himself look like fool during this court case, everything he and his so-called high profile lawyer is saying is putting more doubts in the peoples head about this man. I refuse to believe that this man will get off scot free and think he will become Attorney General for the new country SXM. Tapping phones? well, he can do it then to anyone, why stop with the ex-girl friend?

He refused to co-operate with his superiours to investigate politicians and construction companies? Well? What do you think we can expect under Attorney General Merx? Just more corruption. He has taken a big fall, he is but a washed up old man who abused his power, a power that was placed in him to look over justice for all.

But no, everyone still sees him dining with his crony friends that he tried to protect, the M.Ferriers, the Michel Soons, but you know what?? every dog has his day, and Merx has his day now in court. After this court case, let him get his justice and be gone from SXM for good. He has tarnished our reputation and that of the justice system.

Hopefully, the Curacao Attorney General office will pay more attention to the mental health of their candidates before placing them on SXM.

Scary

From a source close to the courts I hear that a persistent rumour seems to be going around that Merx requested assistance from the FBI to report on the whereabouts of his ex-lover while on a vaction in the US. Allegedly, Merx informed his US colleagues that she was a subject in a criminal investigation and in return he got detailed information on what she did during her vacation, which hotel she stayed, where she shopped and more alike. Quite disturbing if you ask me. Think about the endless opportunities he and his buddies have if he be in charge of justice on Sint Maarten. Your life will be an open book to him as soon as he calls you a suspect just for the heck of it. It is nothing less than a coup for power. Scary. The man is totally unfit for any justice position.

Lots more dirt to come out in the wash

I couldn't agree more, I almost snorted coffee when I read that headline on the Herald front page, I mean, seriously now.

I think what Hady is pointing out is spot on. There appears to be no doubt that Merx committed serious crimes, he has admitted as much himself and pleads that jealousy and love made him do it. The arguments going on now are that Merx is claiming that he made a deal with "judicial aithorities" in Curacao to resign and leave the island.

Former Justice Minister Dick Piar and present JM David Dick both appear to be denying knowledge of this deal. Maybe Merx has documents that can prove it, because if he does then certain "judicial authorities' have been lying to the public to cover up criminal wrongdoing.

There also appear to be many questions about other possible criminal cases, some involving construction deals and politicians, plus a few other sketchy rumors. Merx committed crimes and should take his punishment, which certainly must ban him from public office. But I think also that it is in all our interest if he plays those cards he claims to be holding.
