SXM Ombudsman

Some weeks ago the PPA presented a draft ordinance for a St. Maarten Ombudsman, a proposal that the DP ignored, choosing instead to make noise about how Gracita had presented it. It would appear that opposition IC members are not permitted to prepare or present such proposals, only the ExCo can do so, a truly undemocratic rule if ever there was one.

Tomorrow (Friday 9th June) the Curacao Ombudsman, on invitation from the PPA, will be participating in a public information session at Carl and Sons Unique Inn, 7pm till 9pm. If you really care about the future of SXM, you should be there.

Below you will find the news articles related. Gracita presented her party's ordinance and the DP avoided the issue by attacking the way she presented it and that she presented it at all. Lets face it, they don't want one really, because they realise that an Ombudsman would put a damper on the way they do government "business". Not to mention the Ombudsman would need a big office and alot of staff to deal with the very long queue outside his door.
