The Dawn Beach property was cleared this week and without the necessary permits to do so. Bulldozers rolled on Monday and today at least 75% of the property had been stripped to bare brown earth as you will see in the photos below. It is also Flipper's understanding that the clearing has also strayed over the boundaries and the Kadaster is investigating.
This is what is planned..
A meeting was held this morning between those with objections and concerns about the project and VROM, the governments land and planning dept. It was learnt that NO permits have been given to carry out any clearing or excavations, permission has only been givien to clear some brush in order to carry out a land survey. It was also learnt that VROM's advice to government on the project is going to be negative, one concern noted at the meeting was the "hugeness" of the project, another was about the economical impact it may have. It seems I am not alone in questioning the need for projects of this size to create jobs that perhaps aren't really needed. However the government does not have to follow the advice of it's departments and frequently ignores it altogether.
