SXM Island Times - PHILIPSBURG - The Civil Servants' Court will rule July 10 on a settlement between the Island Government and former head of the Department of Spatial Planning and Management VROM Delano Richardson. Developer Luis Gioia was heard in court Friday as a witness concerning the allegation that Richardson had asked him for a bribe in exchange for a building permit extension for the Blue Mall and Blue Residence project in Cupecoy.

Parties had until Tuesday, June 16, to reach an amicable solution to their ongoing dispute concerning the former VROM head's functioning, but failed to do so. The Executive Council rejected a proposal for a settlement that had been formulated during the last court hearing, held June 1. The Executive Council wanted the Court of First Instance to rule in the matter.[More....]

I don't have a copy of the tape myself, but I know someone who does and we'll s if we can get the last parts of it up on here soon. You can listen to parts 1-4 here.

If you haven't already then you really should, Delano is very revealing about the 'processes', 'procedures' and operations of politicians and these departments under ROB. I would really be interested to find out who exactly is in charge of SOAB which is currently undertaking an investigation. According to what I have read, their report goes to the Lt. Governor. What are the chances that the public will get to see the results? How long is this investigation supposed to take, is there a time limit?

There are reliable reports that the long awaited SOAB investigation into ROB has been completed. This report paints a disturbing picture of several individuals in senior positions and the manner in which they neglected normal procedure of the department. The report will, if not already be in the hands of the Lt.Governor. Not sure if the general public will ever be privy to the contents of final report or to its recommendations.

More people need to come forward....

That developer is a hero..

I hope the next statue they erect on a roundabout is his ! ! !

Of course, if we can get a copy we'll put it online, our email is sxmpemail at gmail dot com for any civil servants who can get hold of one. :)

But really, shouldn't the public have a right to know and to hold their politicians and public official accountable? They work for us don't they? But here in SXM we don't have anyone who fights for these things to be made public, not even our press. The SMNN report tells us quite a lot, big ups to them, keep digging.
