concrete boxes on the beach
Anonymous (not verified) | Thu, 2006-06-08 23:26

All I see is concrete boxes being built, no style, no decor,I am really hoping that this project will look attractive when it is finsihed, but I doubt it.
The same goes for the Coral beach on the Beach at Mr. Busby's and also across the street on the lagoon side. so sad.
I took a look at those building close to the Oyster Pond side, I really cannot find anything attractive about those buildings, they look congested and they are clogging the environment.
The parking at the Oyster Bay is so terrible, no parking to get to Mr.Busby's, to Ms.B's, difficult to find parking to get to the beach.
I am betting that the brand name WESTIN will not last, WESTIN and MARRIOTS are type franchises, and if the service and quality style hotel cannot deliver they will lose the name.
So sad for saint martin, the buildings will become just another time share.
more cars for sure, and where will the cars park?

They don't want us on the beach!

Check out their ad on the bilboard by the Great Bay Audtitorium on the Pond Fill road. It says

"Imagine a beach to call your very own."

There will be very few parking spaces for "locals" or "residents" at either place. They have shown no thought for the people of the island, they are here to make money from the island. Sadly, there is a market for tourists who want to vacation in a concrete box.

Too many people on this island do nothing to protect other residents, locals, neighborhoods or the environment, but when the bulldozers roll and construction starts next door to them they cry out for help. If you don't want it to happen to you, don't let it happen to others.

Dawn Beach, Cupecoy, SImpson Bay Lagoon, Red Pond, Emilio Wilson Estate, Pelican Resort, Cole Bay Villas. It's all the same fight really.
