Don't give up

Dear Sam:

Please don't give up (I am sure you won't), there has to be a time and it has to be soon that the People of Sint Maarten will be governed by a body of Commissioners that has the mentality of realizing that the Youth are Our Future and will be THEIRS as well. Just remember what comes around, goes around and Karma will strike back. I personally do not have a sports background ( I love Basketball, but can't play worth a shit.) I know there are great sportmen out there that can steer SAM with his contribution to where it will actually go to improving that slum of slums playground. Coach Brown, Hen Ling, any advise for SAM?

Playground at the Raoul Illidge Stadium a Disgrace
SAM | Thu, 2006-11-16 21:10

On St. Maarten' s Day I once again took part in the wonderful 'Round the Island Relay Race that the Road Runners have been organizing for the past 19 years.
After the event which finished at the Stadium in Belair, I took my children to the "playground" which was quite busy with kids sitting around doing nothing. Nothing? At a playground? Yes. There is little you can do when there is one swing left, one broken and very dangerous slide, a few rusty monkey bars... The place looks like it belongs in a slum of slums.
A year ago, just after this same Relay event, I approached one of the coaches at the stadium and asked how my family's business could help in fixing up the playground and I was told not to bother as the funds had already been allocated.
Nothing has been done. Incredible how little EXCO cares for our youngsters.
We are still willing to donate to this way overdue project, so if anyone has some advice, please let me know.
