New Sucker Garden round about development
poseidon | Sun, 2005-09-11 21:58

Great, more development and beautification. Not that I am against it, but this one makes little sense to me. According to Theo this round about will be big enough to facilitate the tour buses with cruise ship passengers. They will now be travelling on a much nicer looking road which in the end will still take them through the rather run down looking Sucker Garden. Unfortunately they will not stop there, no these buses will take them to the French side where they will spend their money on Orient Beach!!!

So now we go spend a couple of million dollars for a beautification project geared towards tourist who will not be spending any money here. Guess the tax payers will end up paying for this one... Of course the Shell station will be part of that beautification project, it just so happens it is owned by the brother of the managing director of the harbor company that is financing part of this project.

BTW, no offense, but who will be jogging into Sucker Garden?

Hey Poseidon

As with most "developments" on the island, they all have thier hidden benificiaries I think. You are of course talking about Frank Mingo, the owner of the Shell station. I wonder if the tour guides point out Seaman's Club and Defiance Haven on thier tours?

I'm sure it will all be very nice and will feature prominantly on the huge container bilboards in the 2006/7 elections as one of the wonderful accomplishments of the DP.

I wonder too if a "plan" is being put together for the shanty towns behind the Vineyard Building, Over the Pond, Dutch Quarter, Middle Region and Cay Bay.

What a crock!

Welcome by the way, I look forwards to hearing more from you.
