Mullet Bay

On September 5th 1995 the flagship resort of St. Maarten was decimated by Hurricane Luis. Since then Mullet Bay has lain in ruins whilst Sun Resorts International (Ansary) and the Unit Owners have fought in court over it's future.
Recent (Aug 06) developments may mean the area will be up for development very soon. Rumors are that Ansari and Sun Resorts want to build multi story buldings along the beach.

Ansary and Schepisi have both contributed annually since 2001 to the same Museum of Jewish Hertiage.

document missing in the sub division file
Anonymous (not verified) | Mon, 2005-09-12 18:14

Hi Folks, This afternoon I went to review the file for the sub-division and one piece of the total document package was missing. This is the document in which Laveist indicate that this project will not go down so easy. The administrative assistant from vrom confirm that she also saw the document and she was surprised that the document was not there. These things are indeed not so nice and I do hope that we can get some more light in this issue.

Lawyers...Mullet Bay
Anonymous (not verified) | Mon, 2006-09-25 14:00

Anderson Kill agreed to lawyer fees of $1.7 million and the Dutch firm, Spigthoff received $600.00. Schepisi will receive $130.00. The lawyer fees were suppose to be ...
Schepisi...$ 2.5 million
Spigthoff...$ 2 million
Anderson Kill $ 6 million
For once the lawyers got screwed, for keeping SXM hostage for ten years.

Mullet Bay settlement
Anonymous (not verified) | Mon, 2006-09-25 17:17

Correction...
Spigthoff will receive about $600,000 of the $2 million it would have gotten under the contingency agreement. Schepisi says he received about $130,000 in expense money for repeated trips to the island for court appearances and legal work he and his colleagues at Schepisi & McLaughlin could have billed at $2.5 million. MBAA negotiated a deal under which the land under and directly around the apartments - 12.88 acres of the 170-acre complex - was transferred to a foundation under the control of the newly formed Mullet Bay Apartment Association.
Sun Resorts Ltd., paid a $30.6 million settlement ...
It turned out to be a very valuable 12.88 acres.
