Transparency International, the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption, has released a interesting little list on corruption.
The List
Well, the Netherlands didn't do that bad, huh? It came in seventh out of 180 countries. Splendid, actually. Also, our beloved Kazakhstan is the v. much desirable 145th of the list. ;-)
USA: 18th. (quite OK)
Haiti: 177th. (OMG, complete disaster)
With regard to my previous blog: Venezuela: 158th and Russia: 147th. Well, well, well...

Oh, don't even CTRL+F our little paradise, it's not there.
So the questions are, where would you place it? And would it be a good idea to send our beloved and esteemed politicians over the ocean to get a glimpse of a country where corruption is pretty close to non-existent.
Could be very enlightening!

Where would TI rate us?

Well for a start off the countries that fared badly would not even try to convince the world community they were a democracy. Most are run by dictators with the backing of a corrupt military.

Now SXM is run by a supposedly "democratic government", but of course those who live here know better. It is run behind closed doors much the same way as Democratic Republic of Congo and Equatorial Guinea. So I would let give us 171.
