Shiver me timbers!

Okay, so this is getting way out of hand. Russian warships in the Caribbean!! They left Moscow on Monday and are now on their way!!!
If it's not a hurricane, the local (mis)government or whatever other disaster you can think of then you can always rely on Russia to make you feel very uncomfortable.

Prepare for military exercises at your favourite beach in November or December...

Aarghh I'm getting kinda shaky now: The nuclear-powered Peter the Great is one of the largest warships of its kind and carries a variety of weapons systems including Granit anti-ship cruise missiles that can be armed with nuclear warheads. The pro-Kremlin daily Izvestia speculated the ships could stop in Syria as part of a broader show of force in the Mediterranean, quoting a navy source who said Russian engineers were expanding the Syrian ports of Tartus and Latakia.

Please, Chavez, Putin & Medvedev take those monsterous things away! Why all this threatening actions...I readily admit to be afraid, so what else do you want?

Shivering and scared,

Chill out Angelina, what exactly are you afraid of? Russians invading the Caribbean? Get real my dear, the only thing you should worry about is if Bush (or McCain) screws up as they usually do and start thinking they can push the Russians and Chavez around. The Russians exercising in the Caribbean is absolutely no different than the US exercising in the Black Sea or Caspian as they frequently do. Maybe SXM should invite the Russians to R & R here, why not? We haven't had any US ships for a long time and we could do with some business.

Your worries could be related to the recent Russian actions in Georgia, last week Colin Powell laid the blame for that firmly on the Georgian President. According to Putin, some of the blame can also be laid at Bush's doorstep, unsurprisingly.

I'll say it again, Bush's policies have been arrogant and aggressive to so many countries that we should be trying to iron out our differences with and influence in a more diplomatic manner instead of threatening, Syria, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela. There is no diplomacy with this administration and McCain will give us more of the same. The World cannot afford more.

Putin is of course a heavy handed thug who arranges for journalists to be murdered. But then, Bush kidnaps people and tortures them, denying those persons the right to defend their innocence. I'm not going to fish up all the links to these things, they are out there and common knowledge. The CIA rendition plane landed here twice that we know of, that's much more scary to me than a bunch of ships doing exercises several hundreds of miles away.

I strongly suggest you visit the Agonist.org on a daily basis, you will find intelligent discussions on so many things there. Writers there were predicting the current Financial Meltdown a year ago and they have been on the ball about so many other things too.
