Simpson Bay: ---- Leader of Government Sarah Wescot Williams and Commissioner Roy Marlin yesterday declared the Simpson Bay fish market open at the inauguration ceremony. The long awaited Market was blessed by Pastor Wycliffe Smith. A spokesperson on behalf of the restaurant owners and vendors of the market thanked those responsible for making the Simpson Bay Market a possibility.
Engineer Kurt Ruan project leader of the market facilities made sure he showed the picture of Simpson Bay market from the beginning in 1990 to today. He said that executing the project has been a great challenge. Ruan said that they took an example from the market on the French side, where people could socialize on Saturdays while overlooking the seas.
While leader of government Sarah Wescot Williams said that the market was long overdue and many people have many questions as to the stumbling blocks. She said the official opening should be considered a new beginning. People she said can now come to the market and get their produce as well as food as they socialize. She extended words of thanks to Windward Roads whom she said exercised their patience when it comes to the payments to construct the market.
Several vendors made sure they were on their spot displaying their arts and craft, while some of the restaurant owners who all named their restaurant after fish was there treating their guest.
