I can't believe it's been 5 months since I posted a WWW blog entry here, but now that I look through my packed bookmarks in my browser it makes sense. I've got a ton of stuff saved up in there and I'll share a bunch of it with you all below. Hopefully you will all find something of interest, and there's no rush to look through all the links in one sitting, this post will be here tomorrow too :)

OK, first off to promote a nice thoughtful frame of mind, a short video called "The Miniature Earth". Some of you may have seen it before, but it doesn't hurt to watch it again and bring the life you have into perspective.

Next up, a very entertaining and humorous lecture on how History is linked to Pop Culture called "Assume the Position". It's only 30 mins or so and although focused for US students, well worth your time to watch..

For those of you who have never sat and watched Starlings flock then you are missing something quite beautiful and amazing to see. This video shows the Starlings on Otmoor in the UK and this next one reports on new studies on how they manage not to collide.

This BBC documentary is in 5 parts, each about 10 minutes long and covers the Evangelical Creationist Movement's campaign pushing Intelligent Design as an alternative to Evolution. Unfortunately we have many here in St. Maarten who are clueless and ignorant about Evolution too.
A War On Science- Part 1. Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5
We are animals too, inability to accept that is really, to me, the height of vanity and ego.
Political Animals (Yes, Animals) - 22nd January 2008
Scientist Finds the Beginnings of Morality in Primate Behavior - 20th March 2007
Another great documentary that I think should be shown in all our schools is Richard Dawkins Break the Science Barrier. In 6 parts of about 8 minutes. With the recent donations to the USM maybe we can hope that science on SXM will get a boost.

When it comes to the 4th Estate, can anyone see any similarities here in SXM with how the US press operates?
Tucker Carlson unintentionally reveals the role of the American press - 8th March 2008
It's no wonder that more and more people are turning to the web to get the news, from a variety of sources and using their own brains to figure out what's what.
More Americans turning to Web for news - 29th February 2008

I may have posted this before, I'm not sure. Never mind if I have, because it's worth a second mention anyway. This award winning Horizon documentary (3 parts of 1 hour each) covers the rise and use of fear in politics, from the 1950's to the present day. You can find all three parts at the link below.
BBC - The Power of Nightmares - Politics and Fear.
