Philipsburg: -- The federal detectives who are busy investigating the case of forged documents against former Chief Commissioner of Police Derrick Holiday are yet to complete the final report on the ongoing investigations.
Chief Prosecutor of the Windward Islands Taco Stein said that they are waiting on the final reports from the detectives. He said his office is expecting those documents sometime in March and they would be able to say then how they intend to proceed with the case against Holiday.
The former chief commissioner of police was removed from his job on Wednesday January 30 2008 by Minister of Justice David Dick who claimed he reassigned Holiday to a higher position. However, on the morning of February 6 some seven cars with federal detectives raided the home of Holiday and arrested him. He was taken straight to the Pointe Blanche house of detention where he spent 35 hours. Holiday was released the following day. Stein said Holiday is suspected of forging immigration documents and that he cooperated with the detectives who interrogated him.
SMN News reported earlier that Holiday also defrauded the federal government by collecting house rent allowance while living in his own home in Dawn Beach. Stein was not willing to say if the detectives were also conducting investigations into the fraud.
However, based on reliable sources it is likely that Holiday will be prosecuted for both crimes.
