Two new Enviro Videos

Two new videos from SXM have been placed on YouTube recently. The first is an awareness video created by a student which I have given the title "Don't care what people say, follow your own way". The second is a SXM Pride report about mangroves being cleared in the lagoon behind Tropicana Casino.

You can read more about SXM Pride here.

flipper,
the video I was thinking of when I first got in touch with you was actually the SXM Past & Present video.
The others are quite interesting as well, but the SXM Past & Present is definitely the most striking.
So it would be great if we could get a copy of it. No rush though, we only need it for the first week of April.

I must congratulate the MPC teachers who came up with the wonderful idea of having students research NGO's as a project (werkstuk) and Aaron John and his class mates who chose the SXM PRIDE foundation for their research.
This kind of project introduces students to local NGO's and the work that the NGO's do in the community, thus broadening their knowledge of the happenings in their community. Young John made a video for the PRIDE foundation as part of his project.
It also seems that he used this website for his ideas and pictures, so kudos to SXM PE as well for providing news clippings, pictures and videos, that students and others can tap into for their educational projects.

I teach at the French Quarter 'collège' (ages 11-15) on the French side and we are working on setting up a special day dedicated to the protection of the environment in the beginning of April.
After watching these videos, I thought it might be great if we could show them to our pupils. I still need to talk about this to my co-workers, but I think they would also feel that it would be a great addition to our program.
Actually we had already talked about trying to get another video to show our pupils. It's the one which was shown before the screening of 'An unconvenient truth' at the Philipsburg Theatres, maybe two years ago.
Anybody knows which one I'm talking about and if there's a way of getting a copy somewhere? (I remember seeing it on Youtube, but the quality was quite poor).

We can get you a copy of the Inconvenient Truth one and a couple others SXM PE writers have made. You can find them here.

We would be happy to provide you with quality copies of any we have made and help you contact people who have made the others. I am sure we can also find someone to teach you and your students how to make them too if there is interest. I hope so. :)

Flipper

Flipper, the video that Laurent is requesting is the SXM past present and future.
This as you remember was played before the premier of the Inconvinient truth.
I have also been asked recently by a teacher at the SXM academy for a copy of this same video as the quality on YOUTUBE is indeed poor.
Do you think you can track down the producer of SXM past present and future and see if there is a better quality around for the class rooms?

Thanks a lot for replying so fast and so positively!
My co-workers and I will have a look at all these videos and I'll get back to you afterwards.

flipper,
it looks like my previous post got lost somewhere at the beginning of this thread. So here it is again:

"flipper,

I hope it will still be possible for us to get a copy of it. That would be great.

Drop us an email at sxmpemail at gmail dot com with contact info and we'll get you a copy.
