Empty Grave Found—No Traces of Leta Lynn Cordes—Reward up

Dawn Beach:-- Police along with security personnel from Checkmate Security and the police dogs searched Dog Island after Anguilla Police found a grave with a person’s name engraved on a piece of stick following the words Rest in Peace. Police Spokesman Johan Janchi Leonard said that even though police have not been speaking on the case they are still busy looking for the missing woman. He explained that not only did they search Dog Island he said that the grave on that island was found by Police from Anguilla and police on St. Maarten do not have the name that was written on the grave, which they dug up and eventually searched the entire island. The grave was found to be empty and police found nothing on the island relating to Cordes.

Leonard said they have been placing yellow ribbons in all areas that were searched to remind themselves of the areas that they searched. Police also searched the Le Gallion Beach with the assistance of about 40 gendarmes whom he said goes further when searching for missing persons. Leonard explained that the gendarmes walked with machetes that were used to dig into the sand to make sure there is no body buried there. Asked if police is looking at the husband as a suspect in his wife disappearance the police spokesman said that they have not narrowed down their suspicions to any one person. He said that they are looking for any suspects who may have anything to do with the woman’s disappearance on January 11 2008. Anyone with information on Leta Lynn Cordes is asked to call the police at 54-22222 or 911 Leonard said.
In the meantime Public Prosecutor Taco Stein said that there is a website for the missing woman and that the family is offering a $25,000,00 rewards to anyone who can provide information about the missing American woman Leta Lynn Cordes. Stein said that the family also offered to bring in cadaver dogs to assist in the search, but they are still thinking about the offer. He said that these dogs are good but if one does not know what they are doing then it can turn out badly.
