SXM - Sex and Shame

The Daily Herald deserves applause for it's article this last weekend on the three sex slaves from the Dominican Republic who have been screwed over, not just by the owner of the so called 'Gentlemans Club' and it's clients, but also by our so called 'Law Enforcement' authorities. The Dominican Consul is too kind and gentle to them in the report today in the DH, asking why she was not notified about these women until after they had been deported.

Again we are made clearly aware of how dysfunctional, inept and messed up our regulatory and govt authorities really are. Shame on them all. And where are the so called 'Moral Authorities' (sic), the churches, on this issue? Silent as always about this disgraceful situation, more concerned with two loving people of the same sex sharing their lives together. A pox on them too.

I have lost confidence in herald

its good that you praise the herald on this article and i do agree that it is something that needs to be written about, but i have lost a lot of confidence in that newspaper. how on earth is is possible that the herald can allow its reporter who covers the commisioner of beautification to work with that commissioner to put together a publication on the beautification works that commisioner is doing in the communities. Watch out soon for the publicity stunt on this beautification works. While their reporter is busy writing for this Commissioner - the newspaper has not written one workd about the beautification work. Talk about conflict of interest!!!

Are surprised that people are being prostituted against their own will in SXM? I think it's foolishness for one to believe that. Our government allowed this to happen because of the Love OF MONEY but we also. We now find it normal for Sxm nightlife to be as filthy as it is. Can we blame the churches: YES and NO. THe churches spoke out on this issue but the government shut them down and we have to say SIN is SIN no matter if it's prostitution or homosexuality (Hady Nufyet's). But let the churches cry out and ask for a sxm to go back and worship their creator, the population of sxm which was a god fearing ppl were rebel and cry out for FREEDOM instead of WORSHIP OF THE CREATOR. Well it's a good step the Daily Herald did concerning this topic, it prooves what the churches have being saying for the longest time, SXM might be looking beautiful on the outside but on the inside it is filthy. This is Sxm i love, which is my home, but I don't support brothels in no way, shape or form, we should teach our young men to look for a wife and respect young woman. Mostly that their body is the temple of the Lord. Contrary to that, why should we be surprised that their is a rise IN STD's?

You may be relieved to know Lala, that I am perfectly straight and no threat at all to you, your husband (assuming you are female that is) or your children. Unfortunately I must confess to being an Athiest and Heathen, so please feel free to blame me the next time a hurricane hits the island.
I'm planning a new post soon about two wonderful books I have read recently, one called The God Delusion and another called God is not Great, How Religion poisons everything, I recommend them both highly. They are both best sellers, but for some reason I have not yet seen either on sale here in SXM, I plan to donate my copies to the USM Library though so if you have trouble getting hold of them you could try there.
Being an athiest I don't believe in your god and while I try to respect people's right to have their beliefs, I do not feel I have to remain silent and accept ignorance and nonsense founded in them. I give your opinions, if you inject and formulate them around religion, the same respect I would give someone who believes the world is flat or that the sun revolves around the earth. Those people, to me, live in Lala land.
Stay tuned and keep an eye out for my book reviews and post about God and Religion, I would be very happy to have an intelligent discussion and debate about them both if you feel up to it.

I'm quite surprised that someone who was educated enough to put an open debate on the sex scandal situation in SXM will be so narrow minded. I have to say that your lack in education within my belief will never push you to speculate that you are the reasons hurricans are in this world. Secondly, I am not interested in your debate. For your information, I am not married and I don't have any children and it never crossed my mind that you will ever be a threat. Just by reading your comment, I never considered you to be at my level. I do agree that it is your freedom to believe what you want, however, a coutry without moral background is lost. What you may call poisons, I call blessings and I will stick to my convictions .There is no gain by having brothels in a society. A family is the center of the economy and I believe that it is the responsibility of the government to protect families in the country. Awaiting your response, I wish you wisdom and may the Lord bless you.

I see moral as: "principles of right and wrong in behavior, especially for teaching right behavior". I do not see the word "religion" coming in. So that could mean (...) that there is another moral then a religious moral. Yes, a country needs a moral background, but this doesn't come only with religion. I am not a believer myself - far from that - but that doesn't mean I do not have any values.
I am not pro-brothel either, but just because it is disrespectful to the women who are exploited, not because some guy in church told me that.
Having said this, I look forward to Hady's book reviews.

I agree that you don't have to be a believer to have morals, I 've never stated that you need be a believer or go to church to know right from wrong. I only stated the impact of the church in the society because someone asked where are the churches. Thanks for your point of view

Another day, another dollar... Another Horror Story.

Picture this Sad story.
Government give out to the same industry some 1071 permits. Over 2007 Mr. Governor? Do we have here such a booming industry?

My theory if you can't find a man in the brothel, find him in jail.

Shame on you, shame on us.
