I see no point to this blog post myself, but I´m not a censor or editor telling people what they can write about or not. I myself pay the bus drivers as soon as I get on the bus and I think it is perfectly understandable and reasonable to expect everyone to do so.
It´s really not much of a story, I think the writer was pointing out how the letter to the papers was signed ´a concerned bus driver¨ and highlighting the contradiction in Julian Petty´s comment a while back, but then, maybe the paper just decided to do that themselves. You never know with the DH or Today, sometimes they put your name even if you ask them not to and the Today tends to chop up letters with a machette.

Anyway, maybe some new posts will be writen in the coming days that are more interesting.

Flipper

This is ridiculous. You looked him up? how? By not even knowing if it was the real JP. Cmon. Are we THAT thinned skinned that we can't take it when someone points out what many more may be thinking. If SXM PE don't watch out it will become insignificant because of posts like these. I already don't see the usual excitement here anymore.

J. Petty came to the site and instead of adding something useful to the debates, he derided and disrespected the members, writers and bloggers on the site calling us “fakes, hypocrites, bunch of ghosts hiding behind a screen name.” The writer of the blog on Petty is absolutely right to expose him for being just what he claims others to be. As the good book says: “Let they who are without sin cast the first stone.”

The following are petty statements of petty:

“You can sit in you little cyber world with your little fake names and rub each other's ego's all you want, but until you get your message out in the mainstream with REAL PEOPLE attached to the complaints, you'll forever be having this lil members only party. This site is NOT mainstream. If you do a survey among the people that MATTER, you know, the "small man", nobody has even heard about or read this site.” –J. Petty

“You bash politicians from behind a screen name the use the excuse "its your right". I beg to differ. People who hide behind a screen name are afraid that the hypocrisy of their lifestyles might render them silent if they want to give an opinon about anything. You preach about openess and transparency then hide behind a name. Hypocrites. After a while the only thing that comes from talking is SOUND! And I do believe that people are going tone deaf to this doom preaching from a bunch of ghosts.” --- J. Petty

The point is Julian Petty is the BIGGEST HYPOCRITE!

Of course there will be those who will preach doom and gloom just like you do when you speak of the doom and gloom of SXM PE. Julian Petty and others who preach the deaf of SXM PE have their own agendas. They are the operatives of the DP government calling themselves "worried supporters of PE". I would like to see your support in financial contributions to PE.

When Local Hero, flipper and SXM Pride write about the environment, global warming and overdevelopment on SXM you say the very same things.

You are the doomers and gloomers on this site. And you will keep coming to PE to fulfill your mission. But the true supporters of PE will never let the site die!

As the commenter who signed with 'another worried supporter of SXMPE', I feel a bit offended to be called an 'operative of the DP government' in the 'DOOM and GLOOM of SXM PE' comment.

Although I wouldn't use the word 'true' (people may feel excluded while maybe having the same goal), you probably would count me as a true supporter of SXMPE.

What I tried to say when I questioned the subject of this blog was that I think it's important to keep the debate intelligent. Because that way the content will get more of the attention it deserves.

Well well, this is funny. I am one of the "worried supporters". The reason I do not put my name under the posting is the same reason why Flipper is using "Flipper".
Let me make myself clear. I did not agree with mr. Petty. But I think that he should be anyhow treated with respect as anyone who writes on this site. Or if that is hard for you to do, do not react at all.
This has nothing to do with "doom and gloom" but it is about making a respectable and respected site of SXM-PE. Because it is clear dat PE can fullfill an important role as a different source of news. And PE will not be taken serious if it is only bashing the Roys and Pettys of this island. If Petty wants to lower the level of discussion, that is his choice, but I would like to see that Flipper, Hady, Sybille and other frequent writers do not follow his way of writing. Just let Petty do his thing and maybe neglect him. Wouldn't that be better?
And one thing more. Calling me an operative of the DP government... Wow, that is an insult!

This whole blog is a joke. Why is this even a topic. As I read in your posts Flipper, I know you don't want to "censor" anyone. I also read your post (and i'm paraphrasing) regarding the type of news here; i.e. the bad news on the island. I think you're on the wrong foot. I know this is supposed to be USER generated, but if you let posts like this "Hey mr. Petty, i looked you up" appear regularly by your "contributors", and it becomes the status quo. Then this site is going to quickly dissapear from my favorites list and I can guarantee you I won't be the only one. DIck Cheney can ask the media to report about the war in one way....but that doesn't apply here...we are not at war and there ARE wonderful things happening all over this island that make the bad things PALE in comparison, but that doesn't sell newpapers or get you more hits.... name bashing, etc. unfortunately does. I hope in the coming weeks/months that this website manages to grasp a handle on its goals, because I see a sharp decline in both the quality of posts and quality of topics here, and as the previous poster wrote....i don't see the usual excitement here either.

I can agree that the writer may have been upset with Petty and decided to let him have it. I can agree that the writers should not lower themselves to his pettiness level. But if this blog is so irrelevant, not exciting and entertaining as you say, why is it receiving so much attention? Why can't you just let it go? Why is it being kept alive?

Why not comment on the Budget or the Loor Case instead?

We have become so PETTY. Let it go and move on to another post!

I am glad we are having this discussion. Your comments are well-placed. Debates like these can only help a site to improve. I'm sure we can all agree to disagree without being disagreeable.

I can see clearly now the gloom is gone.
