Mentality Changes - Look in the mirror.

Our dear commissioner Roy Marlin passes the buck yet again in his recent comments at the weekly press briefing.

Residents Should Consume Less Electricity to Cut Cost—Marlin—Make some Mentality Changes - 27th September 2007

Granted, the residents of the island need to be made more aware of energy wastage, but take a look at the airport at night when it is closed, all lit up inside with airco's running, that huge roof doesn't even collect water. Or look at the harbor, floodlit every night, regardless if there are ships unloading or not.

Mentality changes are desperately needed, but not just with the consumer. Take a look in the mirror Mr. Marlin.

It's your mentality that has left the island with no sewage system.

It's your mentality that has left the island with a full dump and no solution.

It's your mentality that has left us with a water shortage and cost GEBE hundreds of thousands of dollars.

It's your mentality that has permitted out of control and unregulated development.

It's your mentality that has decimated and polluted the island's natural environment.

It's your mentality that pursues more oil dependancy at a time when every indication is that the price of oil will continue to rise and global warming is a certainty.

It's your government's mentality that leaves the island with an inadequate and inefficient public transport system.

It's your government's mentality that has made St. Maartener's a minority in their own country.

Mentality changes are needed, desperately, but less so out here, more so in that Government Administration Building.

Look in the mirror Mr. Marlin.

Maybe the lights are on to prevent vandalism but even so Government and the keepers of these facilities should switch to energy saving bulbs, preferably with an eye.

The lights that remain on are not just the regular ground lights , I'm talking about those huge energy guzzling playing field flood lights.
My GEBE bill for the last month. I live in a small apart. : elec, used Naf 56.00, fuel clause : Naf 102.00. Can anyone tell me if that is O.K ?
