Subject: preliminary results from the Grand ICC this morning at Mullet Bay Beach on St.Maarten - 15th September 2007
We had a great turnout for the Grand International Coastal Cleanup this morning at the Mullet Bay Beach. A total of 370 volunteers, this amount is 130 more volunteers than last year's figure of 240.
I would like to thank the core group for their handling of the rush this morning:
*Mercedes for manning the VOLVIC tent with all the NGO brochures and pastries.
*Robbie Lawrence for delivery of the VOLVIC water and bringing a proffessional electronic scale for weighing the trash bags.
*Paul Mooij and Esther for weighing all bags.
*Larry, Rueben, Marisa, Mary, Ian, Jennifer and Gino for handing out all cleanup tools to the volunteers.
*Margareth Brooks for monitering the sign in of volunteers.
*Jennifer deRobles and Caribbean Liquors and Tobacco team for erecting the tent, bringing cookies and EVIAN coloring books for the younger kids.
*Wendell Moore for filming this event for AVS.
*Chris Tihanyi for taking pictures of the event.
*Laura Bijnsdorp for filming the event for the youth LEOS club.
*Clean SXM N.V. for pick up and removal of 112 trash bags.
*Yussra for bringing the Windward Island Emergency Services (WIEMS) incase of an emergency
*John Leone-Manager of Heineken, AMSTEL Bright for announcing a new project called "Bright Beaches" a new initiative to attract more volunteers to clean beaches
by rewarding funds to NGO's that clean beaches with PRIDE foundation.
