Philipsburg: - Federal Detectives seems to have their hands full as they continue the investigation on the police department and the allege wrongdoing committed by several senior officers.
The officers SMN News understands is now working on number of allege internal frauds committed by now detained Police Commissioner Marcel Loor; some of those wrongdoings SMN News understands are collecting of rents from the Federal Government for his lodging. Marcel Loor when first arrived on St. Maarten was living at a home in Monte Vista, Loor then bought a house of his own and moved to St. John Estate, but the cop never notified the federal government that he was no longer renting. Apart from that, the senior cop SMN News understands got the federal government to pay for airline tickets when he was traveling for his personal business.
SMN News also understands that Loor is not the only police officer who allegedly defrauded the federal government this way. Information reaching this media house alleges that even the Chief Commissioner of Police Derrick Holiday are also involved in the house rent fraud, all of which surfaced last week, now that the minister of Justice David Dick is on St. Maarten meeting with several top cops and department heads.
Minister Dick in an invited comment said that people have given lots of information regarding the issue of fraud committed against the federal government, but the information he said has to be investigated and one of the biggest roadblocks is the lack of solid evidence.
When confronted with the information that he is contemplating removing the Chief Commissioner of Police Derrick Holiday from his position Dick said that “the people want him out” and he believes this one of the reasons lot of damaging information is filtered to the public.
The Minister said that there is a lot of negative information in the public now and if it is not proven that these people did not break the law, and then there would be a lot of work to clean up back their images. The minister who is on the island since last week Thursday is busy meeting with several bodies in the justice system including the police union.
St. Maarten community is thrown into tune of shock waves since the arrest of police commissioner Marcel Loor who has since been charged with money laundering, forging of immigration documents and accepting of bribes.
Also good to note is that the federal detectives have been questioning a number of immigration officers at the Princess Juliana International (PJIAE) to determine their involvement into crimes they assisted Marcel Loor conduct.
According to reliable source, the former immigration head solicited female immigration officers at the PJIAE to allow migrants entry on the island with an old format of re-entry permits.
Loor also enlisted members of the Voluntary Korps Services to work for his private security company; he even allegedly provided some of these officers with illegal firearm.
