I said it in my previous post and I'll say it again, I have no problem with people who keep their religion to themselves, but there are those who overstep those bounds, proclaiming that their beliefs and God trumps all. For too long ignorant bigoted people have hidden behind religion, for too long such people go unchallenged because we are taught from childhood to repect others religious beliefs. Richard Dawkins thinks they should be challenged, I happen to agree.

Last year on the 9th of March, I wrote a blog here entitled Gay Gay Gay Gay Gay, in it I pointed out that homophobic hate speech appearing in letters in the papers would likely end in tears. Less than a month later we had the horrific and brutal attack in Maho.

Miguel Arrindell's latest contribution towards the promotion of ignorance and intolerance is a masterpiece of both. I rarely use swear words in my posts, but this time I just have to say, he's a f**king moron, clearly shown in the first lines. He believes in Jesus but he doesn't live a Christian life and his opinion is based on this principle. What principle is that Miguel? You don't follow it closely yourself, but you want to force everybody else to follow the bits you do follow?

He then goes on to totally miss the reason behind being called hypocrites, it has nothing to do with the gays already on the island Miguel, except for your fellow bigots and homophobes. The hypocracy Mr Arrindell is that your so called 'good book' and your imaginary friend Jesus are about love, tolerance and understanding, something you and your ilk have corrupted with your bigoted views. If I were Christian I would be disgusted and offended that you claim to speak for my religion and me.

This is a hate letter that promotes intolerance and violence towards gays, after comparing them to shit from a cess pool he then goes on to tell us his God said, very clearly mind you, never to tolerate evil. Going on to call homosexuality evil, he is promoting intolerance, which as shown last year, leads to violence.

Finally he states that those who champion equality, understanding, tolerance and opposing his bigotry are opening a Pandora's box, soon to be followed by gay people marrying and adopting children, he probably would have liked to add child abuse and breakdown of society. Miguel, most of the child abusers are in your church, hiding behind your religion, many probably created by your religion's narrow minded and ignorant views and policies on human sexuality, biology and science.

If you love God then you must hate evil.

Like I said, a f**king moron. SXM PE and I have ordered two copies of Richard Dawkins The God Delusion which we will be donating to the Philipsburg Library on his behalf.

Next up on the Religious Nuts list is Patrica Varlack, she appears to be on a crusade to make St. Maarten a Religious State, a couple weeks ago she condemned all those people on the island who took bribes last election to hell. Her latest, proposing that the churches should see the visit of the gay ship as an opportunity to save souls is typical of her. Like the other nuts, she thinks everyone should believe in her god, in her (or her pastor's) interpretations of the bible. 'She's on a Mission from God!'

I wonder how many prostitutes she invites around for lunch, how often, has she 'saved any of their souls' or made any real long term friendships with any? I imagine that if they had to put up with her preaching while having lunch then probably not. You know Patrica, some people don't like being preached at, some may already have churches they go to that have less bigoted and homophobic views than those you frequent. Some people have other gods, some people, more than you think, don't even believe in your God or any other and think you are delusional.

Last on the list of Religious Nuts in the papers this past week is Ronald Peterson, sharing with us his Enlightening thoughts, a misnomer if every there was one. The only thing enlightening about his letter is that it reveals just how simple and narrow minded he and others like him really are. Out comes the old dumb chestnut about how legalizing gay marriage or allowing gay people to adopt or raise children would lead to legalising having sex with your sister, mother and family pet.

Always sex on their minds isn't it, when they see or hear the word Gay or Homosexual they get images of two men having sex, how sad for them that they are blind to the humanity, friendship and love between two people, just like that shared by a hetrosexual couple.

On behalf of Mr Peterson, SXM PE and I have ordered two copies of Al Gore's new book, The Assault on Reason which will also be donated to the library.

Fortunately we live in a democracy and not a theocracy, but ignorance and faith in religion has often been misused and abused to bring about violent and destructive reform and upheavals, wars and persecutions. For all those out there who are moderately religious, agnostics, Hindu, Budhist and athiests like myself, then you should know that Leviticus mentions you too.

Anyone who curses or blasphemes God, should be stoned to death by the community. (Leviticus 24:14-16)

Miguel's letter is a hate letter, it should be condemned and given the scorn and derision it so aptly deserves. I am currently investigating if there is anyone I can complain about it to, if anyone knows then please tell us. Or is it legal in the Netherands Antilles to promote intolerance and hate towards a minority group of people?

If you think it's about time the government came out and refused the churches proposal to stop the ship from coming and stated clearly that hate speech, promotion of intolerance, which may be seen by some as incitement or justification for violence is not acceptable, then please email the Lt. I have respect for peoples relgious beliefs, it's their own business. But people like this, they are messing in other peoples lives and business, claiming their God trumps all. In their dreams!
