La Nina
Anonymous (not verified) | Thu, 2007-10-04 17:15

La Nina, which means "little girl" in Spanish, is an unusual cooling of Pacific Ocean surface temperatures and can trigger widespread changes in weather around the world, including a higher-than-normal number of hurricanes in the Atlantic.October-November forecast calls for 4 named storms, 2 hurricanes and 1 major hurricane, the above-average prediction for October-November 2007 activity is largely due to the emergence of a now moderate La Niña event.
