I am not sure if there are any laws that prohibit individuals taking out ads and campaigning for issues such as the environment or against certain govt policies. If I as a citizen wanted to go to the DH and purchase a full color page or two then what is to stop me?
The ad does not even have to be aimed againt, or for any particular party, the idea would be to educate and make the issues important to voters. My own inclination would be a very simple ad, 4 photos and a few lines, nothing more, if done well then a simple message and a few images gets the message across clear to many people.
We have discussed making a video, 20 or 30 mins long, perhaps to be played in two parts on the local tv station. This video would include old footage and photos along with new and it would have commentary, like a mini documentary. But making it would take time and of course money, the old footage would have to come from Dwight Barran who now lives in Statia (a place where they care about their environment and heritage) and we need equipment.
The best we can do right now with no funds is continue making short photo videos as we have done so far. We would be interested to hear other ideas any of you out there may have about this.
