to how the local papers operate. If you have read the above post you will see that businesses are writing their own news stories. If you are happy with this then fine, I am not and I think many other people are not either.
The Today and Herald both pick and choose what to report, they are not going to write anything critcal about a regular advertizer, this is why it is relevant. Have you noticed neither of them have been over to Dawn Beach to have a look, not one mention of the story LH has been following here. Both papers have published 'ass kissing' articles and even the same editorial (possibly writen by Westin?) kissing Westin's ass, heaping praise on them.
Our newspapers have highly questionable standards, for reporting, for the stories they choose to report on, for filling the paper with crappy non news. You have heard the term "You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" I would think. It is no secret either that many businesses curry favor with politicians and influencial individuals in order to get favors back, I am very interested in this myself, I do not want to give my money to businesses that do so.
Lets take a slightly different issue, but along similar lines. The Xmas celebrations in P'burg that Theo takes credit for every year, which many companies support with donations. Are they donating to the celebrations or are they donating to Theo's PR machine?
I think we will have to agree to differ on whether this information is relevant to the bigger picture.
