The recent (unconfirmed) news that the Dolphinarium project has been scrapped must surely have lifted the spirits of the organisations and individuals who work to improve conditions for St Maarten's animals. It's not an easy job.

There are two foundations in St. Maarten, the Animals R Friends Foundation. which is headed by Monique Hofman and the St Maarten Animal Welfare Foundation which is headed by Su Wathey.

Both of these Foundations do great work everyday and are well worthy of your supporty and donations. The Animal Wefare Foundation has been feeding, saving and helping animals since 1992 and Su has been utilizing her connections and working hard at convincing the right people that it is time for legistlation and an animal shelter. The Animals R Friends Foundation recently presented draft legistlation to the island government.

Please go visit their website and if you can and want to make a donation I think you can do so on each, we will of course forward any donations made for them here.

There are also two very hard working individuals who deserve our thanks, support and donations too, Mercedes De Windt, who led the way against the Dolphinarium and Elizabeth Reitz, who drives around every day in her little pickup truck feeding all the stray dogs and taking care of at least 25 herself, many of which are looking for an adoption. Again, donations to either will be forwarded, just send an email if you make one here to let us know who it's for.

If there are any news items we will post them on here.
