Daily Herald - SXM Pride and Oyster Bay staff clean Tintamarre - 4th September 2006

Little Omar Patrick a PRIDE volunteer shocked by the trash pile on Tintemarre island.

This is the group before the cleanup started.

Sint Maarten PRIDE foundation volunteer Peter Swart is holding pieces of a broken sign that was placed on Tintemarre by the Reserve Naturelle. The broken pieces were found in the bushes with piles of picnic trash. The sign could have been broken due to heavy weatheror by malicious persons. In any case, St.Maarten PRIDE foundation is urging the Reserve Naturelle to replace the sign as an indication to the public that Tintemarre is a protected Nature Reserve and should be treated with respect.
Over night campers, day trippers and charter boats should be made aware that it is unlawful to leave their picnic trash behind.
