Talking Garbage II

Back in June last year, Flipper wrote a short post about discussions between the two sides of the island in regards to garbage disposal. One year later the French side has a (privately operated) glass recycling plant and a new plan for their Cul de Sac garbage dump.

What does the Dutch side have? A dump that is estimated to reach maximum capacity by 2007 and a waste plan presented to Roy "heckofa job" Marlin back in November that we have yet to hear anything more about. Has it been released?

Repeating the conclusion of SXM Pride, Environmental affairs in St. Maarten are, to put it very very mildy, a shambles. They have raised the issue of polution and garbage repeatedly, questioning if there are any long term plans for disposing of the islands garbage, but silence appears to be the answer from Govt.
