Or he could be waffling on about anti fouling paint in order to distract from it. The point is Robbie, the lagoon is fucked environmentaly. He is quite right in one argument, there is no need to have highly qualified inspectors to know this fact, you can see and smell it for yourself.
Robbie mentions that for him, the environmental future of the lagoon is a very important subject. Of course, all of us know that his business is centered upon the marine trade and this is hardly an unbiased point of view.
Antifouling paint may well have very little to do with the discoloration of the water, in which case he should have no concerns about tests being done by highly qualified inspectors. With his high interest in the environmental future of the lagoon he should be welcoming them.
Some more photos were received today showing the quality of the water.
In the 70's you could see the bottom of the lagoon in the center of the cole bay area, about 6-8 ft deep, now you can hardly see 6-8 inches. There were lobsters, snappers and many shoals of mullet and baby pufferfish, now what is there?
The lagoon and the state it is in is a shameful disgrace and clear sign that our commissioner of the environment is incompetant and inept with that portfolio, as he is with others. Problem is, those of us who remember how it used to be and can see the degradation around the island are getting fewer, whilst those who are used to it and knowing no different are growing.
The lagoon needs a task force of inspectors and studies/tests and those like Robbie who would stand in the way of this should be pushed aside and treated with the distain they deserve. Sorry Robbie, but to me your point of view in regards to inspectors is like what the lagoon is full of.
Robbie misses the point.
