If I were a member of the current or prior SXM government, or a law enforcement/judiciary who has something to hide, or a businessperson who provided or received favors from the government, then the new status with no real oversight would be the IDEAL solution to all of my (potential) problems. It would be a perfect opportunity to if not wipe the slate clean, then to bury it so deep that it'll never be dug out.
On the other hand, the law-abiding individuals should be extremely worried about the lack of accountability, lack of police supervision, and lack of law enforcement in general.They should not be rushing into attaining"new status" as soon as possible. They should understand that it has to be done right.
