I see both perspectives and to honest to defend this perspective from a biblical
point of view won't work for someone who doesn't believe the bible.
Or to convince people who believe in the bible that gay marriage should be accepted won't work either.
Instead of having these points why not bring arguments based on the law.
What I find should be done is a referendum should be held with the options, Should Gay-marriages be legal? And then let democracy decide through the public voicing their opinions by voting. Then all the ones who are for and against will have a voice and whatever the outcome we accept it.
If it's not decided in your favor another referendum can be held..but it won't change the fact that work will be carried out on the winning choice.
Every place should have a right to decide. Courts don't make the laws and in this case it shouldn't be the deciding factor. The Government, whether it's the Island or the Lands Government makes the law.
Whether you like to admit it or not St Maarten/NA has a different culture then Holland, which isn't a bad thing. But instead of the courts changing laws why not give the public a chance to decide.
I don't believe that only a select few, whether it's government or the judicial system should have the say in every matter. In general more referendums should be held for more topics, That's when I believe you'll see more of democracy on the islands/in the world
I understand both perspectives but this will never bring solutions. These two perspectives will never change. So lets start focus on bringing actions into existence.
If the people choose for Gay-Marriage then so be it!. If they don't choose for Gay Marriage so be it also!
