Gay marriages

When people think of homosexuality they think of a bunch of people out there performing all sort of ridiculous sexual activities which acts in many cases are commited by upstanding heterosexuals or bisexuals (none gay people) just for physical (sexual) enjoyment .
As I understand it, same sex marriages is based on two people, feeling true love for each other and who would like to make their union official as partners. They are not asking anyone to adapt their lifestyle or that every country and every city perform the marriages. All they are asking for is to respect their rights to choose their soul mates and recognize/register the union/marriage once it was legally performed in a country or city that recognizes same.
I also would like to know what the "Book" has imposed as punishment by man on those who are gay. If I read clearly, GOD is our judge and he will deal with us individually when we stand before HIM.
A God fearing heterosexual.
