SMNN - Cassiana to spend eight more days in psychiatric jail ward - 25th July 2008

From SMN News

Willemstad:----- Detective Alexander Cassiana who was arrested last Monday on Curacao for firing shots at the home of his lover and colleague Lexus Phillips has to spend another eight days in jail. The decision was taken by the judge of instruction in Willemstad.
Chief Prosecutor Taco Stein confirmed the eight days extension that was handed down yesterday and said that this would give Cassiana the opportunity to get the necessary treatment he needs since he is in the psychiatric ward of the Bon Futuro Prison in Curacao. Stein said they already heard all the witnesses on St. Maarten but since Cassiana was declared medically unfit by doctors on St. Maarten they have to now wait to see when the psychiatric specialist would give them the go ahead to question the detective for a second time. “Asked if they intend to bring Cassiana back to St. Maarten to continue the investigation, Stein said that they do not intend to do that now since he is in treatment. He also explained they have to wait on the reports from the specialist before any decision can be taken.
