Enviro Week - EWE - 4-8 June 2008

Imagine... a park full of green products and services that will help St. Maarten become a bit more of a nature friendly island and a more livable island for the younger generation. With our eco-expo we make it a reality and you can even participate with your green products or services.

A solar cooker contest, a car that runs on water (French Lycee), a car that runs on biofuel, local biological food, green cleaning products, wood crafting, local natural art, solar heaters, water saving and energy saving products, water from air and a raffle. There will also be workshops in between with related to agriculture, solar power, energy and water saving and some interesting keynote speakers. Details, updates and press releases below.

June 3rd and 4th

Movie 11th HOUR. To judge from all the gas-guzzlers still fouling the air and the
plastic bottles clogging the dumps, it appears that the news that we are killing
ourselves and the world with our greed and garbage hasn’t sunk in. That’s one
reason “The 11th Hour,” an unnerving, surprisingly affecting documentary about
our environmental calamity, is such essential viewing. It may not change your life,
but it may inspire you to recycle that old slogan-button your folks pinned on their
dashikis back in the day: If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the
problem. Produced and narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio. Fundraising movie for St.
Maarten Pride Foundation. Starting with a wine and cheese cocktail party at 19.00
and the movie at 20.00 sponsored by Nagico. Entrance 12 USD.

Tickets 12 US$ are available at Texaco star Mart on Bush Road, Philipsburg Theatres and members of St. Maarten Pride Foundation.
