Bloggers: Free Thinking, non-conformists
sybille | Wed, 2008-04-16 15:44

I think it is also important to add that the early bloggers were free thinkers, non-conformists who provided an outlet for grassroots engagement. There were no rules, no-spell checkers and no control. Weblogs (now blogs) were initially online journals or diaries. It was about free thinking, an outlet for free thoughts and emotions, whether right or wrong.

"If someone feels very passionate about a certain issue, either in their personal lives on in the media, being able to get it out in print and sharing it with others is a way of venting or letting out steam. Similarly, people who feel confused or have a dilemma feel that it is sometimes useful to write out their free-flowing thoughts to help them sort out the problem" (The Syndicates of Opinion).
It is a shame when a media house does not understand or know about the history of blogging today!
