They know their market

You can't really blame megaplex for knowing their market. While the movies you listed are great movies, oscar nominated, highly acclaimed, Megaplex would lose money on those movies. One of those movie reels costs approximately US $5000. When you factor in all other related costs and end up with 50 people coming to see the movie (example) it's not worth it for the theater. They are actually practicing good business principles. You might feel slighted, I do also, but we're in the minority when it comes to movies like Atonement. This is a society where comedies and action movies reign supreme. Not putting anybody down, but our population like movies where they have to think as less as possible. Anything that seems to complicated or slowly developing, they completely ignore. Why then would Megaplex put up the posters? Thats easy, to take up window display space. They can't leave them empty afterall. Bravo to Philipsburg Theaters for realizing this and capitalizing. It's run by a local girl, so she knew there was a niche. And there is a bright side for those of us who can't make it to either Megaplex or Philipsburg Theaters. Movie houses all over the world are releasing movies at the speed of light to DVD. Once the movie has run its circulation on big screens, one month later they are on DVD. It used to be you had to wait half a year, not now. Main reason: DVD sales are higher than movie sales (which is one of the key reasons the Hollywood writers went on strike. They get no royalties from the billion dollar DVD industry although it is still their work). So now you don't even have to wait long. I am a member of The Video Corner DVD rental store. They display what movies they are getting and when inside the store. Just yesterday I saw they are getting Atonement on March 14 and No Country For Old men even earlier, March 7. I put in my order right away. They also have a great selection of foreign language and independent films. So you see, we have choices. Mine is simply to wait a week or two for the DVD.
