No doubts

I don't doubt what you say, that there are teachers and student 'relationships' as you describe, I know it has happened before and I'm sure it still does. But let me ask you a question. Have these two girls that confide in you made statements to the police or prosecutor? Until that happens and the victims are prepared to stand by their accusations then you know as well as I do that it has no substance in court. Certainly not in terms of slander and libel, thank you for not putting names. Of course, if you are willing to stand up with your own name and make these accusations, thats different and up to you to prove or defend them.
We can discuss and will probably agree on how inadequate the social systems within our community and schools are, too few social workers, a screwed justice system where victims of abuse or violence drop charges for fear of retaliation or unnecessary embarrassment and shame. Children;s homes struggling to stay open, abused children to be returned to abusive situations, too few social workers to monitor them, etc etc.

I see that SMN News has a report about a 13yr old girl:

28th February 2008 - Philipsburg: --- An East Indian Guyanese national is now in police custody allegedly for molesting a 13 year old girl. The suspect appeared before the judge of instruction yesterday where his pretrial detention has been extended. A friend of family who wants to speak anonymously said hat the man have been interfering with the child over an extended period of time and the family did nothing to protect the child. The woman said that the child is pregnant for the man and the family did not want to press charges, instead they wanted immigration to deport him. According to the family friend is that the child relatives did not want the matter exposed because they felt the child has brought shame to them. The woman said she is not sure if the child mother took her to a doctor to do an abortion since they were highly contemplating that option. She said the man and his companion is living in the same house as the child and her parents and for this reason the family wanted to protect him. She said based on her understanding the man known as “Singh” is related to the child.

Yesterday the cock-eyed man who is lives on St. Maarten illegally was taken to the Court of First Instance where his pre-trail detention was extended.
Chief Prosecutor Taco Stein said that the parents of the child did file and official complaint of the incident and that even if the family did not want to press charges his office is prosecuting the case. Stein said he could not confirm if the child is pregnant or not.

Perhaps it is connected with this story. The most important thing that I see is that Taco would press charges even if the family did not want to. Too often in the past abusers have avoided prosecution by intimidation and threats and I' am guessing it's only because the girl is pregnant that they can make a case. This man must not be deported, he must spend his time in Point Blanche if convicted. To deport him would be to tell any foreigner that it's ok to rape and abuse children in St. Maarten, you will just get deported.

If you can get those two girls to make statements and get Taco to take up their case then great. We both agree that there are serious problems within our society and schools, we just differ with how to deal with them and which ones are the worst. A witch hunt with mud slinging is not what we want here, but feel free to send us those statements if Taco refuses to look into the matter.

As for girls 'turning', i find that terminology quite funny. At least we can hope for less teenage pregnancies. Are women treated with disrespect? Absolutely, we live in a society that has a thriving sex industry, men that think they must screw every week or it will drop off, and that having sex with a virgin cures aids. Same old wacky ignorant thinking that blames the gay parades for Hurricane Katrina and 911 in my opinion.
