Thank you, Moongirl - this was beautiful. It is, afterall, a real, human story, not just some faceless, intriguing mystery. I am glad he was finally found, but the closure brings with it the end of all hopefulness for even unanticipated miracles. And that is, of course, so very sad.

Saba residents, please breathe a goodbye and a prayer to Joel's spirit for those of us who were unable to travel to your small, beautiful island! I wanted to be there so much myself - to sit and know that he was there, somewhere. Now as this chapter closes, your island holds a special piece of his life story. He was such a special person to so many of us. Please hold his memory dear.
